Casa Galilei*General questions

Q. Can you tell me more about the accommodation?

A. Please see the Casa Capena website for full details of our two properties in the old quarter of Capena. According to the number of places you are booking, you will be allocated the smaller or larger property, or both.

Q. How much can I tailor my holiday?

A. For groups of six people travelling together we can be, within reason, totally flexible. You can choose how you wish to build your itinerary and we can fully tailor-make the holiday to accommodate your requirements. For smaller groups, although the itinerary will generally follow the advertised schedule, do call us to discuss the options.

aircraft taking off from Fiumicino airportQ. Why don't you include flights in your package?

A. You can probably buy air tickets more cheaply than we can! You can fly to Fiumicino or Ciampino airport, the latter being served by low-cost airlines (Ryanair and EasyJet), which makes the process very easy. Another reason is that guests may also include our cooking breaks as part of a longer holiday.

Q. How difficult is it to get there?

A. Not difficult at all. If you are not travelling by car, you will be picked up at the local airport or station and taken to Capena.

Q. If I rent a car, how do I get there?

A. See the www.casacapena.com website.

Q. Are the courses suitable for children/do you give any reduction for children?

A. The courses are not suitable for children under 16 and we are not able to give any reduction for children, although children are welcome to participate in all other activities in the package or to accompany you on an accommodation only basis if you have chosen the accommodation and course-only option.

Q. How well do I need to cook to participate?

A. We pride ourselves on the fact that our holidays are, first and foremost, holidays. Everything has been designed for your enjoyment and you do not need to be an expert cook.

My partner loves to cook...

Q. Does the chef speak English?

A. Giovanni lived in England for many years. He worked at the Etoile cooking school and London’s prestigious Sanderson Hotel. His wife Michela, a trained sommelier, also worked for many years in England. Both speak excellent English

Q. Do I need to bring any kitchen equipment with me?

A. No. The kitchen we use for the lessons is fully equipped with all the necessary tools. Corsi Capena will provide you with a chef's jacket.

*Guide

Q. Who will be looking after us?

A. You will be looked after by an English-speaking guide throughout your holiday.

*Prices

Q. If I want to properly budget for the holiday, how much should I add to the basic price?

A. The Corsi Capena price covers most of your expenses including food and wine with your meals. You will only need to add the cost of the flight (which depends on the specific deal you get from your airline, and can be remarkably low), your lunches on Tuesday and Friday and any other personal expenses (phone calls, souvenirs, etc.).

euro symbolQ. Why are the prices all in euros?

A. To allow for exchange rate fluctuations, because the package prices are based on local costs in euros. We will convert the prices into your local currency at the time of booking. (Click here for a currency converter.)
